Event details
Join us for an evocative artistic intervention exploring enforced disappearance, memory, and the resilience of the civic voice. On August 1, 2019, Abubakar Idris (popularly known as Dadiyata) was forcefully abducted from his home. Years later, his whereabouts remain unknown, and his unsolved disappearance stands as a chilling symbol of the vulnerability of free speech and dissent in Nigeria. Born out of a collective refusal to let his memory fade, Where is Dadiyata? has grown into a powerful multi-form project. It brings together writing, visual art, clothing, and conversation to physicalize the void left by enforced disappearances. What to Expect Multi-Disciplinary Installations: Walk through a convergence of graphic works, visual art, and objects that reflect on absence and memory. Exclusive Documentary Screening: A special viewing of The Cost of Truth, a gripping investigative documentary that highlights the high price of exposing power and the dangerous realities faced by Nigerian journalists and civic voices today.
