Event details
The afrosonic Film Club is a monthly screening series dedicated to Nigerian/African music documentaries, African diaspora music films, and classic African cinema. The New Directions strand of afrosonic Film Club exists to put emerging Nigerian filmmakers in front of an audience that is ready to receive them. For Edition 11, we are giving that space entirely to one creative house. Fenmore Studios is a production company based in Abuja, making Nigerian short films with a distinct voice - intimate, character-driven, and uninterested in the obvious. We are screening four of their films in one sitting. Late Night Conversation (dir. Allen Agozie) - two very different people brought together by chance, learning and growing through each other. A Still Life (dir. Sean Omoluabi) - a friendship between two cousins that begins to fracture when one gets a job, and the other is left behind. Crushed (dir. Sean Omoluabi) - a photographer and an actress, both stuck, find an unexpected bond. No Longer At Ease (dir. Allen Agozie) - a couple trying to enjoy a quiet meal at home. The screenings are followed by intimate town hall conversations that encourage deep dialogue and creative cross-pollination.
