Event details
The afrosonic Film Club is a monthly screening series dedicated to Nigerian/African music documentaries, African diaspora music films, and classic African cinema. For Edition 10, we are going somewhere different. Les Saignantes (2005, dir. Jean-Pierre Bekolo) is an afrofuturist film set in a near-future Cameroon where two sex workers, best friends Majolie and Chouchou, accidentally kill a powerful politician during sex and must dispose of the body before anyone finds out. What follows is a darkly comic, visually audacious reckoning with corruption, power, and the women who know exactly where the bodies are buried - literally. The screenings are followed by intimate town hall conversations that encourage deep dialogue and creative cross-pollination.
